      <image:title>Our mission - Clinical medicine</image:title>
<image:caption>Funding clinical efforts to provide personalised, less toxic solutions: We are part of innovative approaches to develop precision medicine solutions for patients. In particular, we are supporting a personalized oncology medicine platform for VHR-L patients to screen susceptibility to treatment (called Drug Response Profiling, DRP). The DRP allows informed decisions for experimental treatments by testing 200+ candidate drugs on patient cancer cells. Since its development, the DRP has grown significantly over the last years, now reaching over 100 patients a year. We aim to scale the current platform across major pediatric centers, embedding the DRP as standard-of-care.</image:caption>

<image:title>Scientific Board of Advisory - Prof. Kimberly Stegmaier, MD</image:title>
<image:caption>Professor Stegmaier is a Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, the Vice Chair of Pediatric Oncology Research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), and an Attending Physician at the Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) and DFCI. She is the Co-director of the Pediatric Hematologic Malignancies Program at DFCI and BCH and is also an Institute Member of the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. Professor Stegmaier has dedicated her laboratory-based research to the exploration of disease mechanisms and identification of new therapeutic targets for childhood cancers using innovative systems biology approaches. She won numerous awards, such as the Stand Up to Cancer and St. Baldrick’s Foundation Innovative Research Grants and a National Cancer Institute Outstanding Investigator Award. She co-founded the LEAP Consortium, which led one of the first clinical genomics studies focused on children with relapsed/refractory leukemias in North America. She plays a leading role in other key clinical consortia in North America focused on the development of precision medicine for childhood leukemia, including the PedAL Consortium, which is dedicated to innovative clinical trials for children with high-risk leukemia and works closely with the European counterparts the Innovative Treatments for Childhood Cancer and the International BFM Study Group. The Stegmaier laboratory integrates chemical biology and functional genomic approaches to discover new lead compounds and protein targets for cancer therapy. She has focused her efforts on childhood cancers, particularly high-risk leukemias. Several of her discoveries have led to new clinical trials for children with cancer. One of her fundamental interests is to understand how aberrant transcription factors reprogram cancer cells and how to target these mechanisms specifically, which is of central importance for very high-risk leukemias.</image:caption>

<image:title>Scientific Board of Advisory - Prof. Ajay Vora, MD</image:title>
<image:caption>Professor Ajay Vora leads the Hematology-Oncology Program at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. He is one of the world leaders in clinical research for the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He was chair of the UK NCRI childhood leukemia sub-group and European I-BFM ALL committee, a group that oversees the development of leukemia therapy globally. He has played a seminal role in scaling research consortia globally and successfully promoted innovation in these trials. He is Chief Investigator of several national and international phase 3 clinical trials and Principal Investigator of over 20 trials and an internationally respected opinion leader in this field. Ajay Vora’s expertise covers the critical decades of the development of leukemia therapy. At GOSH, he built one of the strongest clinical programs in Europe with a dedicated focus on innovation to improve outcome for children with resistant disease and overall to decrease toxicity with personalized approach. Besides a productive program in Immunotherapy, Professor Vora has promoted the development of functional precision approaches, building a functional screening effort in cooperation with experts that are dedicated to improving the treatment of VHR-ALL. His expertise with high-risk therapy including haemopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) will be invaluable to test new concepts for clinical translation.</image:caption>

He is full professor at the faculty of medicine of the University of Zurich and physician in chief of the Department of Hematology, Oncology, Stem Cell Transplantation and Immunology at the University Children's Hospital Zurich. He built an internationally leading clinical and research program for hematologic malignancies. His research focus is on mechanisms of drug resistance in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia, in particular new approaches to target transcriptional dependencies and development of functional phenotypic screening assays for precision hematology / oncology.
